Survival Instincts examines the jungle of the classroom while recognising everyone needs ways to survive. Set in any Australian high-school classroom, the play highlights the important and challenging contribution teachers make to our society.
First staged in 2009-2010, Angela received accolades for the short and punchy play at Short & Sweet Theatre Festivals around Australia.
Survival Instincts resonated with audiences and was a finalist in the Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra Short and Sweet Festivals, winning Best Actress (Brisbane Powerhouse, 2009 & Canberra Theatre Centre 2010), runner-up Best Actor, nominated Best Play of the Festival (Brisbane), 1st place People’s Choice Awards, 3rd place Judges’ Choice Awards (Week Three, Seymour Centre, Sydney, 2009) and 3rd place Best Script and Best Overall Production (Canberra, 2010).
